1. "HTC Touch HD" The HTC Touch HD is HTC's finest Windows Mobile phone yet. A slim casing houses a large, responsive VGA screen. But it's not just about looks because inside this attractive phone lies the heart of a beast. GPS, HSDPA, Wi-Fi and a 3.5mm headphone jack make for a very smart phone -- it's just a shame it doesn't run Android

2. "LG KU990 Viewty" This is one of LG's best phones yet. If you're looking for a good camera phone the LG Viewty is definitely worth checking out. From the vibrating touchscreen interface to the YouTube video capabilities and photo-editing app, we liked what it had to offer and think you will too

3. "LG Renoir" At a time when so many touchscreen handsets are entering the market it's difficult to figure out which one to buy. Depending on your needs, we think the LG Renoir has one of the best cameras for a touchscreen phone and it's great that it supports DivX too. We think there's room for improvement in other areas of the phone, though

4. "Sony Ericsson C905" Sony Ericsson has always produced good camera phones but the C905 outdoes them all. The high resolution camera with xenon flash produces sharp shots even in low light and we were impressed by all the extras, such as GPS and Wi-Fi. If you're looking for a serious camera phone that could replace your camera, this is it

5. "Samsung Tocco" The Tocco is a stylish handset with a wealth of features, including a 5-megapixel camera and HSDPA support. It's not quite an iPhone killer, but it's still one of the best touchscreen phones around

6. "Samsung Pixon" The Samsung Pixon's camera took photos worthy of framing, which is more than you can say for most camera phones. That said, it didn't do so will in low light, so don't expect great things if you plan on using it for late-night parties. As a phone it performs well enough, but we don't think it's Samsung's best offering yet -- there's much better to come

7. "Samsung i8510" Samsung has taken us by surprise by creating an excellent handset that feels like it could have been made by Nokia. If you're looking for a high-end handset with almost every feature currently available -- and then some -- the i8510 is the phone for you

8. "Nokia E71" We've been yearning for a phone with a Qwerty keypad that looks good and works like it should, and here it is. The Nokia E71 exceeded our expectations and is a great example of Nokia's ability to combine ease of use with attractive design. While we don't like the camera, we think the rest is pretty close to perfect

9. "Sony Ericsson Xperia X1" We really wanted to love the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 as it boasts an attractive design and features the iPhone 3G would be jealous of, but it runs on Windows Mobile and as a consequence doesn't deliver a great user experience. If only the Xperia X1 ran on Android with all the Microsoft support of Windows Mobile and featured a more sensitive screen, then Sony Ericsson might have hit the jackpot

10. "BlackBerry Storm" We commend RIM for entering the highly competitive touchscreen market with an innovative product, but there's still lots of room for improvement. Our experience with the Strom has driven us to the conclusion that it's not RIM's best device and while it has some redeeming features we think RIM can do much better in the future
